American Investment Council Adds Emily Schillinger as Vice President of Public Affairs

WASHINGTON – The American Investment Council (AIC) has named Emily Schillinger as Vice President of Public Affairs for the association. Schillinger most recently served as Communications Director for the House Ways & Means Committee.

“Emily’s experience in Congress and the While House shows an impressive ability to develop communications strategies on some of our nation’s most important legislative issues,” said Mike Sommers, President and CEO of the AIC. “Her recent success in helping lead tax reform messaging exemplifies her strength and nimbleness with the media and stakeholders.”

Expounding on her contributions to the Ways & Means Committee, Chairman Kevin Brady remarked, “Emily is a one-of-a-kind communicator who made a tremendous difference at Ways and Means. From leading our communications operation on tax reform to personally advising me and our Committee Members each day, she approached every challenge as an opportunity and inspired everyone around her to be their best. I’m incredibly grateful to Emily for her service to me, our Committee, and the country. I wish her nothing but success at the AIC as she begins this exciting new phase of her career.”

“I’m excited to join the AIC and have the opportunity to develop and implement a positive, comprehensive communications strategy for an industry that touches the lives of so many people and their families,” said Schillinger. “Across our country, private equity investment helps create jobs, grow our economy, spur innovation, and strengthen retirement security for millions of Americans. I look forward to working with Mike Sommers and the entire AIC team.”

Before joining the Ways & Means Committee, Schillinger served as Press Secretary to Speaker of the House John Boehner. Prior to this, she served as Communications Director to U.S. Senator John Barrasso and the Senate Republican Policy Committee.

Earlier in her career, Schillinger served in the George W. Bush Administration as Press Secretary at the U.S. Department of Commerce and as Assistant Press Secretary at the White House. She received her bachelor’s degree from Clemson University.
