House Small Business Committee Holds Subcommittee Hearing Praising Private Capital for Supporting Small Businesses
Rep. Beth Van Duyne (R-TX): “Across every state and Congressional district, private equity is empowering American entrepreneurs to build and expand their businesses from the ground up.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Earlier this month, the House Committee on Small Business held a subcommittee hearing underscoring the critical role private equity plays in helping small businesses grow, create jobs, and drive local economic development on America’s Main Streets.
The hearing, titled “Investing in America: How Private Equity Empowers Main Street,” held by the Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Tax, and Capital Access on June 5, focused on how private equity enables small businesses across America to expand and succeed. Members of Congress and hearing witnesses agreed that private capital is essential for American small businesses to compete and thrive in the long term.

In her opening remarks, Subcommittee Chairwoman Beth Van Duyne (R-TX) emphasized,
- “In 2024, 85% of all private equity investments went to supporting small businesses, and these investments are driving local job creation, strengthening operations, and fueling business growth to new levels … Across every state and Congressional district, private equity is empowering American entrepreneurs to build and expand their businesses from the ground up.”

Small Business Committee Chairman Roger Williams (R-TX) echoed this sentiment, stating:
- “Small businesses drive the American economy, yet, too often, these businesses face significant barriers when it comes to securing the capital they need to grow, compete, and reinvest in their business. So, that’s where private equity can play a crucial role.”

Hearing witness Sarah Fields, owner and President of the Jetta Corporation, an Oklahoma City-based small business that has manufactured premium bathtubs for over 40 years, discussed the mutually beneficial partnership between her business and private equity, saying:
- “Private equity partnership, for us and for me personally, has been transformative. It’s helping us grow faster, operate smarter, and create jobs, all by staying true to who we are, a small American manufacturer, and staying true to our values and our culture.”
