Fuels Economic Growth
Private equity investments generated $2 trillion of gross domestic product (GDP), an increase from $1.7 trillion in 2020. These investments amounted to approximately 7 percent of total U.S. GDP.
Tax Contributions
Private equity investments generated tax revenues that supported the federal, state, and local governments. In 2024, private equity paid $337 billion in federal, state, and local taxes.
Multiplier Effect
Private equity workers earned $700 billion in wages and benefits and generated another $1.1 trillion in GDP in 2022. This activity supported an additional $207 billion in federal, state, and local taxes. Private credit multiplies this impact, supplying flexible capital to more than 3,700 companies and supporting 2.5 million jobs across the country.
