Join AIC & Punchbowl for a Conversation with Rep. Steven Horsford (D-NV) Examining How Private Equity Supports Small Business

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Tuesday, October 24th at 9 a.m. ET, Punchbowl News founder and CEO Anna Palmer will interview U.S. Congressman and Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, Steven Horsford (D-NV), about the transformative role private equity plays in supporting local economies and small businesses. The conversation will be followed by a fireside chat with American Investment Council CEO Drew Maloney, who will highlight how private equity drives innovation and backs small businesses, jobs, and the economy.

Rep. Horsford made history as Nevada’s first Black State Senate Majority Leader and has experience as a small business owner himself—bringing a first of its kind workforce development program for youth and young adults to North Las Vegas. In his district, NV-4, private equity-backed companies support more than 8,400 jobs and private equity invested more than $2.97 billion since 2018. Across Nevada, private equity-backed companies employ 112,000 workers. Private equity has invested more than $20.7 billion in Nevada since 2022.

Across the country, private equity fuels job growth, high wages, and small businesses. In 2022, 85 percent of all private equity investments went to support small businesses with fewer than 500 employees.
