New Video: Private Equity Supports 1.5 Million Jobs in CBC Members’ Districts

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The American Investment Council (AIC) today released a new video highlighting the businesses and jobs supported by private equity investment in communities represented by members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC).

“Private equity at its core is about professional business building. Roughly $140 billion of that goes directly to districts represented by Congressional Black Caucus members, supporting 1.5 million jobs,” said Dillon Iwu, AIC Vice President of Government Affairs.

The video features Promix electrolytes and Death Wish instant coffee, products from two private equity-backed businesses supported by AIC members Paine Schwartz Partners and TA Associates, respectively. The products were featured during AIC’s sponsorship of the Caribbean Day Party at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s 55th Annual Legislative Conference, which honored U.S. Representatives Stacey E. Plaskett (D-VI) and Yvette D. Clarke (D-NY).

The video highlights how private investment helps businesses grow and create jobs in diverse communities across the country – particularly small and mid-sized businesses. Eighty-five percent of private equity funding goes to supporting small businesses.
