Support a Stronger Florida Economy: Support Private Equity

The private equity industry employs millions of Americans and provides a secure retirement for first-responders, schoolteachers and dedicated public servants in all 50 states. The American Investment Council is now highlighting how private equity helps workers and businesses in early primary and caucus states leading up to the 2020 presidential election. With the Democratic Party holding its first 2020 primary debate this week in Miami, our new video highlights how private equity supports a stronger Florida economy.
  • Investment: Private equity invested more than $29 billion in Florida-based businesses in 2018 alone.
  • Jobs: Private equity-backed businesses employ 1,015,000 workers in Florida. That is 1 out of every 9 people in the Florida labor force.
  • Businesses: Private equity investments supported 1,500 local businesses based in Florida from 2012-2017.
  • Retirement: Private equity is the best returning asset class for the Florida Retirement System, delivering a 17.3 percent return in 2018.
There are currently 5.8 million Americans who are employed by 35,000 private equity-backed businesses across America. Between 2013-18, private equity invested an estimated $3.4 trillion to help these American businesses grow.
